Finance and Governance Accelerators for a Just Energy Transition hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam
This discussion will cover the broader context of development funding, the role of local and international finance, the lessons learned from international experience, and domestic policy ideas that might promote a fair energy transition.
The roundtable will welcome Kanni Wignaraja, UN assistant secretary-general and UNDP regional director for Asia and the Pacific, to deliver a keynote speech on Financing Vietnam’s Transition to Renewable Energy: Beyond the Big Numbers.
"The unifying thread that will run through every session of the conference is the imperative of maintaining a laser focus on equity and inclusion in the design and implementation of policies responding to deeply interrelated crises," said Wignaraja.
Policymakers and experts in the fields of finance and energy transition will also participate in the discussion to provide policy recommendations and the role of green public development banks in speeding climate action, including:
- Pham Xuan Hoe, former deputy director, Institute for Banking Strategy and Policy, State Bank of Vietnam
- Prof. Ulrich Volz and Prof. Thomas Marois, University of London
