PIDG Delegation Visits CME Solar to Explore Renewable Energy Projects in Vietnam Tran Khoa Thu, 03/19/2026 - 14:54

On February 4, CME Solar welcomed a delegation from the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) as part of their official visit to Vietnam.

The delegation included representatives from several international development partners, namely the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Directorate-General for International Cooperation of the Netherlands (DGIS), and Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

During the visit, CME Solar hosted a working session and facilitated an on-site project visit. The company shared its experience in the development and implementation of renewable energy projects, along with insights into the environmental, economic and social impacts of these initiatives in Vietnam.

The session also provided a platform for discussions on project implementation, including key challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities to further scale up clean energy solutions in line with Vietnam’s energy transition and sustainable development objectives.

A representative of CME Solar stated that the visit underscored the importance of collaboration between development organizations, government agencies and the private sector in mobilizing investment and advancing sustainable infrastructure.

CME Solar expressed its appreciation to PIDG and its partners for their engagement and continued cooperation.

Tu Tam Nhan Ai Social Protection Center in Binh Duong, a facility providing care for orphaned children, elderly individuals without family support, and other vulnerable groups, has recently been equipped with a 16.02 kWp rooftop solar power system installed by CME Solar (CMES).

The center was founded in 2006 by Mr. Nguyen Minh Manh, an 87-year-old war veteran. Prior to establishing the facility, he studied community care models in several countries and applied his experience to develop a suitable approach in Vietnam. From a modest beginning, the center has grown into a home for more than 100 residents, including orphans, elderly individuals, and people in difficult circumstances.

According to a CME Solar representative, the system is expected to help reduce monthly electricity costs while providing a stable and sustainable energy source for daily operations, including caregiving and facility management. The use of renewable energy is also expected to support the center in optimizing operational expenses and sustaining its long-term activities.

Bac Ninh, July 31, 2025, Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) officially inaugurated the rooftop solar power project at the SEV factory in Yen Phong Industrial Park, Bac Ninh.

Developed in partnership between SEV and CME Solar, the rooftop solar power project at Samsung Electronics Vietnam factory has a capacity of 2.38 MWp and is expected to generate around 2.59 million kWh of clean electricity annually

Notably, just three months after the groundbreaking ceremony, the project has officially reached its Commercial Operation Date (COD). This milestone signifies both alignment with the Vietnamese Government’s net-zero roadmap and the beginning of Samsung Vietnam’s decarbonization journey.

On February 21, CME Solar officially commenced the installation of a rooftop solar energy system at the Estec Vina factory in Binh Duong.

This project marks the first renewable energy infrastructure installation at Estec Vina, a subsidiary of South Korea's Estec Group, located in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park I (VSIP I) in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

The rooftop solar project at Estec Vina, developed by the CME-Vista joint venture, is expected to generate 2,086 MWh of electricity annually. Based on Vietnam’s certified CO2 emission factor of 0.6766, this project is anticipated to reduce approximately 1,411 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The installation adheres strictly to design, legal, construction, and operational safety standards established by the CME-Vista joint venture.

For Estec Vina, transitioning to renewable energy, particularly rooftop solar, is considered the fastest and most effective solution to enhance its competitiveness in exporting products to Europe, Japan, the U.S., India, and other key markets.

Estec Vina is a leading manufacturer in the consumer electronics sector. With an annual production capacity of 60 million products, it serves domestic and international markets. The company is also a key supplier for global brands such as Samsung, Sony, Alpine, LG, Panasonic, Kia-Hyundai, Yamaha, and Harman.

According to McKinsey estimates, by 2030, carbon tax risks for export-oriented industries in Vietnam could reach $10-30 billion. Transitioning to green energy production will help Vietnam maintain its export competitiveness and drive deeper emissions reductions.

Vietnam is among the six countries most affected by climate change globally. At COP26, Vietnam committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030.

To realize these commitments, the Vietnamese Prime Minister has emphasized that the country's COP26 pledges align with its economic restructuring plans and the global trends of green, circular, and digital economies.
